Final Seminar: Defining priorities for the “sustainable city” of the future
The last URBAN MATRIX Workshop took take place in Stockholm on the 25th of November 2009, in combination with the Annual Conference of EUROCITIES “EUROCITIES 2009: Urban Challenges – Sustainable Solutions”.
This seminar included the following sessions:
- An introduction to the URBAN MATRIX Recommendations to the
European Commission “Shaping future EU research funding for
Sustainable Urban Development”, followed by presentations on
practical examples of research & practice cooperation at local
level (University of the West of England, City of Helsinki and
Fomento de San Sebastian).
- A discussion on two European initiatives aimed at supporting cities in their work towards Sustainable Urban Development: the Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities and the EU indicators on quality of life and sustainability in European cities.
