European Mobility Week 2009 will take place 16-22 September
19 Oct 2010
Local authorities are invited to take an active role in the European mobility week from 16 to 22 September 2009. The overarching theme of this year's mobility week will be 'Improving City Climates'. Any local authority can set up its own 'in town without my car' day by involving its citizens as well as socio-economic stakeholders such as shop-keepers, companies, associations and schools. Practically, several streets in the towns are closed to traffic. This does not only offer enjoyable car-free time to citizens, but also enables cities to draw up comparative reportson air quality, noise pollution or the reduction of motor traffic during the operation and in the normal situation. Interested local authorities can contact their national coordinators for more information.
